I've tried online dating sites and had a few dates and will probably try speed dating in the near future (though I'm somewhat reluctant). And as my friend seems to have set himself a goal to find himself someone this year and I'm looking myself I was wondering other than these methods (and the usual ways of meeting women) are there any other modern or gimmicky ways of meeting people these days that are worth trying?
Other than 'Speed Dating' %26amp; 'Online Dating Sites' are there any other new ways of meeting potential partners?
Have you tried plentyoffish.com? They run free singles events all over the country, as well as being the biggest completely free dating site.
I can't see how Y!A could be used as a dating site either - we don't know how old anyone is, which country they are in or their marital status - it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack!
Reply:you know what is a way good idea you should join an organization like take a cooking class or arts class somewhere or maybe even a book club
Reply:yes, course there is. have you tried going out with friends, nightclubs, at work, try going to dance classes such as salsa, ceroc, ballroom. I hope i have helped a bit, if not Good luck!!
Reply:Singles nights at local supermarkets?
Reply:church meetings, singles clubs, sometimes listed in your newspaper.aa meetings.my son has met wealthly women in aa meetings

Reply:not that I can think of... I guess just resort back to the old fashioned ways of chatting up women in clubs and maybe organisations that you're involved in?
If you do find out of any other new ways - let me know!! lol!

EDIT - Ive met 2 guys off yahoo answers/360 after we'd conversed for ages - and I have to say its not that bad!! one of them turned out to be rather obnoxious - whilst the other was really nice and we've remained great friends as romance wasnt an option due to us being so far apart! It can work though!

Opinion on online dating dilemma?
So...I met my bf online a little bit more than a month ago, and I like him a lot. But I've never liked the idea of meeting someone online...just because there's nothing especial behind it. What do you think? Does online dating can really lead to love?
Opinion on online dating dilemma?
Well it depnds on the guy.I had a teribble online dating experienced. The guy was completely different in person and was a trash dog(so srry to have describe another human being that way)I'll say if u are troubled and scraed then bring along a gf with u,have her stand in a place not too far from the two of u in tht way nothing out of the way may happen, also meet him in a public place 4 eg: a well known restaurant.
I love online dating although I was hurt I think u get to know the person really well ..well based on the information you are given(that is if he is honest)and the fact tht u guys are far away kinda makes the relationship interesting and leaves u thinking of things u wanna say and ask.I do alott of online dating and its fun and I enjoy it,so good luck,be safe and enjoy.
Reply:yep i dats how i met my bf and ive never been happier. alota ppl think its a bad thing. yes u gotta b careful but if u do it the right way then things should be fine

Best online dating sites???
Just got out of a serious relationship a few months back
and I want to try and get back out there and start dating again.
However, most of the time we tend to meet people at either work, school and/or bars and clubs. I don't work with anyone I'm interested, I'm out of school and I'm over trying to meet girls
at clubs/bars, I've been there/done that and it doesn't seem to
ever really work out. I'm thinking about joining an online
dating site as a different approach but I'm not sure which one
to choose. I know there's "Match", "EHarmony" and a few other main ones but wasn't sure if any of them had any significant advantages over the others? Anyone had any good personal experiences with any or maybe know someone who has? I wouldn't rule out paying but I wouldn't really want to invest too much money into it.
Any ideas/suggestions??
Thanks

I like the managed ones because they don't allow all the junk you have to read through on other sites before you can find anything decent you might be interested in.

Question about online dating?
I met a guy online about a month ago now. We have gone on three dates and have a date lined up for this weekend. All seems to be going well, however he has made some comments that are a bit "interesting".
1) He told me he wants me to have his baby. (We have NEVER had sex yet and haven't even discussed a true relationship/committment yet!)
2) He keeps alluding to his prowess in the bedroom and has said he's "holding out" on sex until I'm ready to have it with him.
3) Despite these "over the top" statements (Am I right? Are they a bit off?) he still continues to search the dating site where we met every day?!!
Does the fact that he's still looking mean that my gut feelings that he's a player are right? I don't want to misjudge him, but he seems to be a bit all over the place!
Should I be concerned about his statements/actions? What should I do?
Question about online dating?
Trust your gut, girl!!! I'm actually an online dating success story...I met my (current) fiance through an online dating site. But, of course, I didn't meet him immediately so I've had LOTS of online dating experience. There are quite a few things going on with this guy, so lets look at some of them.
You said "all seems to be going well." Ummm...from your later comments I would suggest all is NOT going well.
1. He wants you to have his baby. This is a very strange request from someone you've had 3 dates with. To me it says he is just saying things to say them, and he doesn't care about what he is saying.
2. So he is talking about a baby, and talking about how aggressive he is in the bedroom. And says he is "holding out" until you're ready...like you should be excited about this? What are his other options? He would have to hold out until you were ready anyways.
3. Then he obviously views what you're doing as simply casually dating. If he continues to search the site, that is ok if you haven't talked about being exclusive (meaning you're open to date others as well).
If you have a gut feeling that he isn't what he says he is, you need to listen to that. You have listed three things, two of which should be red flags coming up for you. The third shouldn't be a flag unless he is telling you he doesn't go on the site anymore, and you can see that he does. No one can tell you what to do. You need to figure that out for yourself. Personally, based on the things you listed I would have safety concerns. It is ok to share that you're having concerns, or to simply say you're no longer interested in dating. Or of course, you can continue dating him. Your choice, but I always advise fellow women to listen to their gut!
Good luck!
Reply:Yeah seems a bit strange. You are only dating but if he is acting as if he wants to be in a serious relationship then him checkin that site is a bit dodgey i think. Plus he wants you to have his baby? wtf lol was he joking or serious when he said it? cause if serious then id be a bit cautious of the guy.
Reply:WHOA!!!!! i'm glad alamrs are going off in your head!
you know the statements for a few dates do seem over top but if he really meant them then he wouldnt be looking on online sites STILL trying to find a online date! it doesnt make sense! this guy doesnt know what the hell he wants....or maybe he does and you maybe rights...he's a player...
your concern is good maybe you shulld confront him if you havent and ask him why he still looks online .....i dont know what reasonable answer he can give...but i guess if you care for him its good to ask him and if you care for yourself its good that you make sure you dunt get hurt!
good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Is online dating more effective or less effective for getting dates than approaching girls?
I want to know what I should try (if I only choose one). Should I try online dating sites or should I try flirting with girls in places like cafes and bookstores? Either way, I am trying with strangers, I just want to know what is more effective for a 22 year-old guy.
Is online dating more effective or less effective for getting dates than approaching girls?
Hi I would stick with the live encounters since on-line dating seems to be a little too easy to pretend your someone your not. In my situation, long distance on-line chatting and hot stuff, when I finally flew there we seemed to think we were a complete stranger to each other, not the loving one on-line we had indulged in. There is a tendency to create a lover in our minds to suit us which is different than real life.
If you do go for the dating on-line try to keep it short and meet each other live fairly quickly. Good luck.
Reply:Would be for the personal touch.Much more reliable too. Some of these sites you could be talking to your granny or even worse your granpa

Do online Dating websites really work? What experiences have you had of them?
Has anyone been a member of an online dating website? Did you meet up with any of the members? Any interesting/disasterous dates? Am writing a book about the internet and its use in relationships!!
Do online Dating websites really work? What experiences have you had of them?
Yes, I've used online dating websites. I met 3 different men. The first one, I had a relationship with outside the website for about 3 months. He decided to let his wife, whom I was lead to believe he had divorced, move in with him. She then proceeded to clean him out and he tried to hook back up with me. Cost of that little episode, $200.00 for adding him to my cell phone bill and having to cancel his phone early. The second guy, I met him face to face at a Dairy Queen to talk. DID NOT hit it off, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and went on a second date. It was the longest night of my life. I emailed him and told him we just didn't click, his response was to ask me if we could just have sex with each other!!! The third guy, I met him face to face at Taco Bell. We didn't really hit it off, but I invited him for dinner at my house about a week later. Seven months later, we got married!!! We've been married for four months now, and I don't regret this decision for one minute!!! He is the best guy, and perfect for me. Yes, I had been married before, so this is my second marriage.
Reply:yes it is nice .if you are
Reply:All of the guys are desperate Losers.....Im sorry if there are actually any nice ones but all the ones I met were porno freaks...*puke*
Reply:A lot of the people on those sites are just there for that 'bit on the side'. There are some genuine people-but they are drowned out by the people who are in relationships/married who go on there to screw around.

I've met quite a lot of them in person already. All of them are polite and nice...
For girls just take note on the time and venue of meeting, if its a casual lunch meeting, then don't worry so much.
If its meeting at night, then suggest a venue with lots of people so that it'll be safer.
Yeah, hope this helps ^_^

It was a great boost for me cos i hadnt been dating for 4yrs and to have that kind of attention and 'love' was great. However it finished abruptly and rather unpleasantly by him. And made me feel very insecure and unsure about them. But i have made many good friends online. Just not my true love as yet.
