Is online dating only for the desperate?

I have been dating for a while and haven't found the right one. I've had good and bad experiences like everyone else. A few people I know tried online dating and one is actually getting married to someone who he met online. I was thinking that is crazy but I was curious about what it was all about so I tried it for a bit. I tried Okcupid which is free!! I made a profile and I found that all you do is look at a profile "woo" them and maybe message them and move on to someone else. I was thinking this will be a lot easier if you join a gym and meet someone there or work or where ever. I think it's weird and desperate does anyone else agree?

Reply:Online dating is no weirder than online shopping. It opens a whole world of options that just aren't available at the local "Walmart". I've had 2 very important men in my life (1 is still in it), and they were both encountered through Yahoo Personals! It's definitely a boon to rural people who don't have access to the bars, clubs, organizations that city-folk have

Reply:Not at all. Nobody has time to go out and socialize anymore. Most people looking for dates look online now. Now developing totally unobtainable internet romances, yes maybe a bit desperate. But searching for somebody locally who doesn't have the time to go out and date, not at all.
Reply:Idk to be honest.I mean to me i think true romance is when you meet the person face to face but then again the online dating thing can help connect with others.Try it i guess. You never know maybe you'll find that person.
