Try plentyoffish.com. This site is the only one I know of that is completely free - they will never ask you for any money, ever!





All the other dating sites let you sign up and create your profile for free, but until you pay you can't make contact with anyone.

One of the people who posted an answer apparently tried to scare you away from online dating. Don't listen to her. From what I've experienced, online dating has been relatively safe. In my honest opinion, I think that the media deliberately besmirches online dating; they do that just for ratings. But the reality is: it's not anymore dangerous than dating someone you know from work or school.

ps.....always think of your own safety first before meeting anyone.....my fiance and i had chatted over the net, phoned each other all the time and exchanged lots of pictures over a 3month period beforehand and met in a very public place and all my friends knew where i was going, luckily i had nothing to worry about.

I met my fiance' on Match.com and I also met some cool guys on yahoo personals, but they aren't free. Whether you pay or not... be careful... For the record James, I didn't say that to scare her. Only to warn her. One of my very best friends was manipulated into giving money away to someone she met online because she truly felt he loved her. It turned out to be a scam. I'm NOT saying that finding love online isn't possible. What I am saying (pay attention now) is proceed with caution. Not everyone you meet will be genuine. There are rapists and scam artists looking to take advantage of people looking for love.





While you may personally feel it's the media giving unnecessary negative publicity -- it's important for women to be aware of these things. That was my goal not to deter her from finding true love but to use some objectivity and intuition when looking at prospective dates. Get it? Hope so. While you can meet people of questionable integrity anywhere, there are men who specifically prey upon women in these dating sites.
