Dating online issue?

i joined an online dating site and was in touch with a man. He lives maybe an hour away from me and wanted to call me, I guess to talk, before we met.

but i wanted to meet in person because I don't want to give him my number if things don't work out and he turns out to be a psycho. plus, i think talking over the phone is b.s. because people could easily lie about who they are. but if you meet, you can tell if the person lied about their profile or what they're saying is really true.

i don't know if i pissed him off by insisting to meet in person. do you think i'm being difficult or too overly cautious? am i justified?

Dating online issue?
You are most definitely justified. When dating online, safety is the number one issue. I know I wouldn't want some random psycho guy to have my number. It is about meeting people, and if he doesn't want to meet in person, than that is his problem, not yours. I have been online dating for a year, and have found it ok not to give my number to anyone until I have met them, and feel comfortable enough to give it to them. (and I happened to have found my fiancé through online dating) Just make sure to meet in public, in a place that is easy to find the other person. Because it's hard to find them if you don't have each other's cell phone numbers. Good luck! =)
